Day 1: Arrive at Lima
Arriving into Lima, your local guide will meet you at the airport, and transfer you to the Hotel Faraona. Your guide will give an arrival briefing before giving a small evening tour of the area around the park and to recommend a good restaurant.
Day 2: Flight to Arequipa
After breakfast you will be met by your guide and transfer to the airport for your flight to Arequipa known as the white city due to the volcanic rock used in the construction of its buildings. On arrival into Arequipa you will be transferred to the very comfortable “La Casa De Mi Abuela Hotel”. Here you can relax and enjoy this fine city and the beautiful gardens this hotel offers.
Day 3: Free day to explore
Today you can enjoy this fine city as all you will want to see is in easy walking distance. You can organise with your guide a extra tour if you wish (local payment to guide). You will discover the hotel is excellent to relax and enjoy the quiet gardens if you just need to rest.
Day 4: Journey into the Colca Canyon
Today you will be collected for the start of your tour of the stunning Colca Canyon. Before the discovery of the nearby Cotahuasi Canyon (3,535 metres deep) to the north, the Colca Canyon was considered to be the deepest known canyon in the world and at 3,269 metres it is more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in America!
Joining our private vehicle and guide for the tour, we take the fascinating drive through the National Reserve of Alpacas and Vicuñas into the high plateaux region before descending into the beautiful Colca Canyon.Your night will be spent in a very comfortable and cosy country inn, La Casa de Mamayacchi with spectacular views of the surrounding volcanoes covered in snow.After lunch you will be invited to enjoy the thermal waters of the hot springs (remember to pack a bathing suit) before you return to your Inn for an evening of cuisine and conversation relaxing by the open log fire.
Day 5: Vista Del Condors + journey to Puno
This morning you will take an early start to for the spectacular journey to the Vista Del Condors, the best viewing place to see the giant condors as they ride the rising thermals. You will then return to have lunch before taking the scenic journey onwards to Puno on the shores of The Great Lake Titicaca. On arrival you will check into your stunning hotel the Hotel Qalasaya where you have a superior room with lake view. Here you receive a welcome briefing before having the evening to rest from your full day’s tour.
Day 6: Lake Titicaca tour full day
After breakfast you will be met once again by your guide as she will be accompanying you to the harbour in Puno where you will board a shared-service group vessel and head out on to the lake.
The first port of call will be the incredible floating islands of the Uros Indians; here you will see the way these people live on these most unusual islands. From here you continue onto the Island of Taquile where your guide will escort you around explaining all about the way of life for these people. Their lifestyle has remained the same for hundreds of years with very little influence from modern times, thus preserving many traditions, laws and customs. Skilled crafts are still very important to the inhabitants of Taquile, and the island is famous for its handmade textiles which are regarded amongst the highest-quality handicrafts available. For this reason you will find that they are higher in price in comparison with other mass-produced handicrafts readily found in other parts of Peru.
After exploring you will then have the opportunity to have lunch before rejoining your boat for the return journey back to Puno. Your evening is free again at leisure. Breakfast with lunch on Taquile Island included.
Day 7: Coach to Cuzco, evening free
This morning you will be met transferred to the coach station to take the remarkable journey to Cuzco across the high Altiplano. On route you will make five stops to see places of interest and take lunch with a fine buffet meal inclusive in this tour.
Set amongst stunning hillsides and boasting a lively and varied nightlife, Cuzco is a destination itself. Its proximity to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu help in making it one of the most visited and best-loved cities in all of Peru. On arrival in Cuzco you will be met off the coach and transferred to your Cuzco hotel the Hotel Munay Wasi where your local guide will give you a short briefing on your stay in the Cuzco region; the remainder of your evening is then free to relax and explore the vibrant atmosphere of the city by night.
Day 8: Free day – Cuzco
Today you can rest from your travels and enjoy this amazing city as there is so much to see and do. Your guide will be happy to assist you in any way should you care to take any additional excursions (local payment to guide). You can visit the many places of interest, catch up on some emails and enjoy the cuisine in the many restaurants to be found.
Day 9: Sacred Valley Tour
Today you start your relaxed tour of the Sacred Valley, taken wholly in private, in the comfort of your guide’s own car.
On the way you will visit Sacsayhuaman, one of the best existing examples of Inca stonework, with spectacular views of Cuzco below and far-away snowy peaks. From here we will travel to a variety of sites on the way into the valley, including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before arriving at the small, picturesque village of Pisac. This is the gateway to the Sacred Valley and home of the famous daily Pisac craft market; here you have an opportunity to view the many artisans’ wares on display including; textiles, jewellery and ceramics.
Because your tour is in private, there will be ample opportunity to stop to take photographs along the way and to enjoy a leisurely lunch in a local eatery, as recommended by your guide. Arriving into Ollantaytambo, to take in the spectacular ruins of the fortress, you will first check into the Hotel Pakaritampu. Your guide will escort you to the ruins (on foot) before you return to the hotel, where you will have the evening free to relax and enjoy the fine facilities on offer.
Day 10: Train to Aguas Calientes
This morning you will be transfer to the train station. Here you will board the wonderful Ejecutivo class INCA RAIL carriage which offers great panoramic views as you route takes you through the changing microclimates into the higher reaches of the Amazon, to the small yet lively town of Aguas Calientes. On arrival you will be met by your hotel representative and escorted to the Hotel Hatun Inn. Here you will check in to your hotel and have a welcomed opportunity to relax in preparation for the following full day’s visit to Machu Picchu. As well as being the obvious starting point for any visit to Machu Picchu, the town is also famous for its hot springs, (agua = water, caliente = hot), just remember to pack your swimming costume!
Day 11: Machu Picchu + return to Cusco
This is an ideal opportunity to take the first transport up to the ruined city of Machu Picchu giving you the chance to witness the spectacular sight of appearing like magic through the early morning cloud.
In order to maximise your enjoyment from your visit, Peruvian Secrets provides the services of a professional local guide who will reveal some of the mysteries that surround this fascinating place. After your visit you return for mid afternoon to Aguas Calientes where you collect your luggage and transfer to the train station to take the return train journey to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival you will again be met for your transfer back to Cuzco by road and check into your hotel once again.
The evening is free to take in a restaurant and enjoy the Inca Capital. Meals: breakfast.
Day 12: Flight to Lima connecting to Iguaçu, Brazil
Today you will be met and transferred to the airport for your short flight back to Lima. On arrival you will have time to check in and prepare for your direct flight with LAN Airlines to Iguaçu (13.30). On arrival (20.25) you will be met by your local guide and transfer to the Hotel Bella Italia where you will check in and have time to relax from your day of travel www://hotelbellaitalia.com.br
Day 13: Full-day tour of the Falls
These unbelievable falls, Foz do Iguacu in Portuguese, Cataratas del Iguaçu in Spanish, located on the border of Brazil and Argentina, are often heralded as the most beautiful falls in the world and are a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
Departing the hotel at 08.00 you will cross the border and visit the Argentine side of the falls which offers stunning views and allows you to get closer to the big falls. You will view the waterfalls from the Iguaçu National Park, where a series of well-constructed catwalks allow visitors incredible access to the falls, including a trip to the very cusp of the “Devil’s Throat.” Both the “lower” and “upper” circuits around the falls offer a multitude of breathtaking views. An optional extra would be the boat trip that takes you closer to the power of the falls (Local payment). Leaving the Argentine side you will have time to take lunch (not included) before entering the national park on the Brazil side. Here you will get a difference perspective of the falls which offer a panorama of different views.
Ending your day’s tour you will return to your hotel and have the evening free to relax and explore the area of the hotel.
Day 14: Flight to Rio de Janeiro TAM Airlines
After breakfast you will transfer to the airport for the 09.30 flight to Rio de Janeiro for the 2 hour direct flight.
Arriving into Rio you will be met by your expert local guide who will transfer you to the Hotel Arena Copacabana, located at Atlantica Av ocean front. The remainder of the day is at leisure. www.arenahotel.com.br
Day 15: A private half-day tour visiting the Christ the Redeemer.
Located atop the Corcovado Mountain at a height of over 710m / 2300 feet, the statue of Christ the Redeemer is certainly one of the world’s best known and most visited monuments.
This outing begins in the Cosme Velho District, aboard a miniature train that runs through the steep Atlantic Rainforest up to the foot of the statue, offering stunning glimpses of Rio from many different angles. From the top, the view is nothing short of heavenly: Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Botanical Gardens, the Jockey Club, and the Lagoon. The entire city spreads out in a magnificent panorama during the day, glittering and magic after dark and always protected by Christ the Redeemer, who blesses visitors and residents from on high.
Returning to take lunch, the afternoon is free for you to explore the city and beaches.
Day 16: A private full-day tour visiting Sugar Loaf Mountain
The height and unmistakable outline of Sugar loaf makes it – together with Christ the Redeemer, one of the two main attractions offering breathtaking views of Rio. Its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined loaf sugar.
This famous landmark is reached by cable car in two stages: first to the top of Urca Hill, where visitors catch the second car to their final destination. From the Sugarloaf, the endless beaches of Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi stretch to the horizon. Set against the lush Atlantic Rainforest, the scene is dotted with historical buildings such as the Santa Cruz Fort and the miniature palace on Fiscal Island.
The tour will continue towards the the Financial District where we will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and return to the hotel . Afternoon at leisure.
Day 17: Rio de Janeiro to Buzios
This morning you will have a regular ( shared ) transfer to the peninsula of Búzios, located 160km / 105 miles from Rio de Janeiro.
Búzios is home to more than 20 magnificent beaches with crystal-clear waters which are complemented in perfect harmony with the sculptured landscape and exotic vegetation. Originally settled by European pirates and slave traders, this historically diverse city enjoyed periods of prosperity and emerged as one of Brazil’s most picturesque fishing villages.
Buzios was elected one of the 10 most beautiful areas in the world and is famed for its unique combination of rustic charm, distinctive archictecure, incredible allure, and sophisticated restaurants and boutiques.
On arrival you will check into the stunning and very comfortable Hotel Casas Brancas. Here you will enjoy a relaxing beach holiday away from the busy city with many beaches and top quality services.
Day 18 & 19: Buzios at leisure
At the appropriate time you will transferred to Rio de Janeiro International airport inorder to catch your flight back home.
